Antonio hails from Melbourne, Victoria and studied at The Victorian College of the Arts on full scholarship before moving to Perth to study at the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts (WAAPA). In the previous four years, he obtained his Diploma, Advanced Diploma, Bachelor and finished with first class Honours of Dance during his year with LINK Dance Company. In his time living in Perth, he worked with the West Australian Opera on ‘La Traviata’ (2013), West Australian Ballet on ‘Coppelia’ (2015) as well as working a residency with Co3 Artistic Director Raewyn Hill on ‘the cry’ (2016) and Strut’s SEED residency with Israeli choreographer and ex-Batsheva dancer, Michael Getman (2016).
His time at WAAPA involved works by Kim McCarthy, Nils Christe and Annegien Sneep, Michael Whaites, and Sue Healey. In 2015, he was awarded the Paulette Carson Scholarship for dance.
During 2016, he toured Europe with LINK, performing at Vondelpark Openluchttheater and in Montpellier with works by Perth independent choreographer and dancer, Isabella Stone and ex-Australian Dance Theatre dancer, Scott Ewen. He has an avid interest in choreography and is thrilled to be participating in William Forsythe’s One Flat Thing Reproduced this year.
Antonio is starting 2017 as a developing artist with Co3 and will performing in Raewyn Hill’s new work ‘The Zone’ in 2017. He is excited to be working with Raewyn and the Company again, and looks forward to the opportunity to grow as an artist.
