WA Regional School Workshop Tour: May – November 2021

We are thrilled to offer FREE in-school dance workshops to WA Regional Primary and High Schools in 2021!

The UNDER THE SAME SKY in-school dance workshop provides a fun and creatively stimulating experience for students Pre-Primary to Year Twelve, in a safe and encouraging environment. Led by a professional Co3 dance teaching artist, participants will be guided through a warm-up, movement activities and creative tasks, that aim to foster imagination, collaboration with peers, and confidence in communicating. This one-off workshop will support participants to explore new and unique ways of moving their bodies, and invites them to be brave and curious in sharing ideas and discoveries!

The workshop is suitable for all experience levels and runs for approximately one hour.

The UNDER THE SAME SKY dance workshop is connected closely to Co3 Artistic Director Raewyn Hill’s empowering dance production ARCHIVES OF HUMANITY, which premiered at the Perth Festival in February, 2021.  The work draws on the stories and experiences of individuals within a community. Students will explore and develop their own movement within the dance workshop session using creative tasks included throughout the ARCHIVES OF HUMANITY development, and engage in discussions around students’ experiences of living within their regional community.

WHAT WE WILL PROVIDE

We’ll provide an amazing Co3 dance teaching artist (all artists hold a Working With Children Check), the tunes to groove to and a portable speaker.

We ask that you provide a space that students can move freely and safely in (dance/performing arts studio, gymnasium, undercover area etc), and inform your students about wearing clothing they feel comfortable dancing in (sports uniform etc).

For more information and expressions of interest, contact Jess Lewis education@co3.org.au

“During these workshops, I felt more freedom, and learnt more about myself during the way. I learnt that even with people watching, you should express yourself.”

- Year 6 student, John Wollaston Anglican Community School

“I absolutely loved working with Co3…they helped me become better and better and step out of my comfort zone.”

– Year 7 student, Mount Lawley Senior High School

“The dance workshop was PHENOMENAL in having all students work at a high level…Participation was great and challenged students in a safe way. Students supported each other.”
