Lucas began dancing in Brittany. In 2003, he joined the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Paris (Paris Conservatoire) studying in contemporary dance. In 2009, he obtained his Certificate of Interpretation gaining the highest honours, and performed in repertoire by a number of leading international choreographers and toured Europe with the Junior Ballet ensemble.

Upon graduation, Lucas travelled to Germany to learn the technique, style and philosophy of Pina Bausch Tanztheater Wuppertal. He studied with Dominique Mercy, Malou Airaudo, Lutz Förster, Stefan Brinkann, Susanne Linke, JoAnn Endicott, Bénédicte Billiet, and Cristiana Morganti, and performed choreography by Leandro Kees and Felix Bürkle.

As a dancer, Lucas worked for Beau Geste Company (under Artistic Director Dominique Boivin) touring France and to Morocco, Japan, and Belgium. Lucas danced in the musical Carousel, choreographed by Joëlle Bouvier, in Theatre du Chatelet.

As a teacher, Lucas has taught in schools in France and abroad (Germany, Austria, Israel, Switzerland, Hungary, England, Taiwan, Australia, Singapore), and for the Ballet Preljocaj and Bolshoi dancers. He also choreographed a solo for a dancer at the Berlin Staatsballet (under Artistic Director, Vladimir Malakhov). Lucas continues his association with the Paris Conservatoire, and is part of the CNDC Angers team (with Director Robert Swinston) to reassemble parts of the Merce Cunningham repertoire.
