A NEW generation of dancers from around Perth will strut their stuff when contemporary dance company Co3 puts on a performance at All Saints’ College.

The annual ensemble show Project NEXT 2018 takes place at the school on July 6 and 7, showcasing about 40 of the city’s up-and-coming young dancers.

Co3 executive director Richard Longbottom said the dances had been practicing diligently during Term 2.

“I believe the dancers had achieved excellent results and they’ve been empowered by our four choreographic leaders,” he said.

“The most important part of the show is for young voices to be heard.”

Co3 choreographic leader and associate artist Ella-Rose Trew said the show gave the young dancers a chance to show the world their perspective.

“The dancers were encouraged to create the performances and be leaders,” she said.

“I think the audience might underestimate their ability at first but they will see how powerful they are.”

Perth Modern School student and Mt Lawley resident Elia Fatin said she enjoyed the process of creating the performances.

“It’s interesting to work with the different themes and different ideas because they have create an interesting combination,” she said.

John Curtin College of the Arts student and Hamilton Hill resident Enora Richard said she had been involved with Co3 since 2015.

“It’s lots of fun being involved in creating these performances, I’m feeling a bit nervous but no so bad,” she said.
