The Artist in Residence role will be to guide our youth through the creation of a new site-specific work in partnership with AWESOME Festival 2020.
AWESOME Festival will select an iconic Perth venue for the AIR and Co:Youth Dance Company to make an artistic response to. A maximum of 4 x week-long intensives will be scheduled throughout the 2020 school holiday periods (commencing January 2020) for the creation and rehearsal on-site and in the studio of this 20 – 30min work. The Co:Youth Dance Company will be made up of a maximum of 25 dancers of mixed ages (Year 6 – 12 and above) who are members of our year-round Co:Y Programs.
In consultation with Artistic Director, Raewyn Hill, you will create the overall artistic vision of the work and have the opportunity to select your creative team. Your creative team will be specific to your concept and could include, for example, a composer, production manager, costume designer etc. The AIR will be paid a fee and Co:3 Australia will provide a production budget for the work. In addition to this, you will have the support of Artistic Associate, Alice Kell, 2 x assistant teaching artists and the administration team of Co:3 Australia as you lead this work to its final performance outcome in AWESOME Festival, September/October 2020.
