Stefan Karlsson is a dancer, performer, educator and consultant in dance. He has performed with The Cullberg Ballet, TanzForum, West Australian Ballet, Sydney Dance Company, Australian Dance Theatre and Chrissie Parrott Dance Company, as well as freelancing with many of Australia’s independent dance and theatre makers.
Stefan co-directed Co.Loaded with Margrete Helgeby, for PIAF show Aqueous in 2005. He has taught dance in high schools, primary schools and at WAAPA, including ballet, contemporary, pas de deux and repertoire.
He is now the director of Moves4Kids, educating students and teachers in the art of dance in primary schools under the new national arts curriculum guidelines. He is also a massage therapist at Bodywise Physiotherapy.
Stefan is studying flamenco at Casa Del Compas, as well as dance and education at Edith Cowan University. Recent performance activities include Sprung with Sue Peacock in Hong Kong 2011, 3 Generations at PIAF 2013 and Rites, Dying to Dance for Fringe World Festival 2014, directed by Sally Richardson. He is a recent recipient of two Artist in Residence grants from the Department of Culture and the Arts and the Department of Education.
