PRESENTED BY ACT BELONG COMMIT
An in-school dance residency and workshop program for young people (Year 3 +), CONNECT 2023: THE CHAIN PROJECT will grapple with themes of resilience, perseverance and courage. Underpinned by the Act Belong Commit message, the program will encourage self-reflection, team building and curiosity, all while developing physical skills that embrace creativity and individuality.
Led by professional Co3 teaching artists, participants will dive into the themes and concepts behind the state-wide engagement program, THE CHAIN PROJECT, intersecting personal stories, digital technologies and visual imagery to inspire and provoke creative dance responses in a safe, open and inclusive environment - sure to challenge and delight curious young minds!
SUITABILITY
The program is designed and adapted for ALL students, Year 3 through to Year 12, and is tailored to meet any specific needs, levels and abilities.
AVAILABILITY
In 2023, engagements can be booked for Terms 2, 3 and 4, subject to availability.
VENUE REQUIREMENTS
Your school dance studio, gymnasium, undercover area – anywhere that has the space to move freely and safely.

ENGAGEMENT OPTIONS
Schools can opt for one of the following two engagement models:
OPTION 1: CREATIVE DANCE RESIDENCY
7 x hour-long sessions, includes:
- Creative dance workshop sessions to generate movement that explores ideas and themes from THE CHAIN PROJECT, including personal resilience, perseverance and courage.
- Collaborative structuring of movement ideas into a dance piece, culminating in optional presentation.
- Participation and contribution to the state-wide digital engagement project, THE CHAIN PROJECT, where the responses of one person become the prompt of reflection for the next viewer – creating a digital chain connecting ideas, people and place.
PRICE: 7 x session Creative Dance Residency: $1260 + GST
OPTION 2: CREATIVE dance workshop/s
1 x hour-long session, includes:
For schools who want a taster of the program (between 1 – 6 sessions)
- Creative dance workshop/s introducing students to ideas and themes of THE CHAIN PROJECT, including personal resilience, perseverance, and courage.
- Participation and contribution to the state-wide digital engagement project, THE CHAIN PROJECT, where the responses of one person become the prompt of reflection for the next viewer – creating a digital chain connecting ideas, people and place.
PRICE: 1 x hour Creative Dance Workshop session: $180 + GST
COST
Prices as outlined above. For schools with an ICSEA score below 975, the program is offered at a FULLY-SUBSIDISED rate (subject to availability). Partial subsidies may also be offered upon enquiry for schools on the cusp.
Excludes 5% admin fee. Travel fees also apply for schools greater than 30km from King Street Arts Centre.

Connect 2023: THE CHAIN PROJECT presented by Act Belong Commit promotes physical and mental wellness through physical activity, self-expression, reflective questioning and collaborative discussions with peers. It provides WA Curriculum links to Dance, Health/Physical Education, Design and Technology, and English (Speaking and Listening).
