HEATH LEDGER THEATRE
STATE THEATRE CENTRE OF WA
Step into a realm where movement becomes poetry, where the ethereal meets the earthly, and where the timeless words of Dante's ‘Divine Comedy’ come to life in breathtaking movement and image. We proudly present to you our latest opus - ARCHITECT OF THE INVISIBLE, devised and directed by international multi award-winning dance maker, Raewyn Hill. This epic World Premiere production investigates what drives a person to push beyond their perceived physical limits to accomplish the remarkable.
The narrative, inspired by Dante’s iconic text, is inextricably tied to the concept of an infinite journey. Hill explores the distinction between physical and psychological endurance in the struggle to keep moving forward despite all odds. A disarming and delicate interplay between the mind and body. The greatest feats of survival speak equally to the persistence and durability of the human spirit and the courage of those forced to undergo extraordinary trials. Breathtaking choreography is made all the more powerful by composer Iain Grandage (Perth Festival, Artistic Director) with a soundscape that has the scale and sensitivity to match the energy and complexity of ideas within this new contemporary dance work.
Eleven Co3 Dancers will be joined by twelve students from LINK Dance Company in a 23-strong ensemble. An exciting collaboration in the long-standing association Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts (WAAPA). The dance ensemble and music, coupled with innovative lighting by Mark Haslam and a remarkable set design by Tyler Hill, complete the vision.
ARCHITECT OF THE INVISIBLE is a celebration of the human spirit, a testament to our capacity for both darkness and light, and a reminder of the transformative power of art.

THE CHAIN PROJECT
OBSERVE - REFLECT - PARTICIPATE
A state-wide digital engagement project will feed ideas from members of our community into the development of this new mainstage work. Devised by Raewyn Hill with video artist Elham Eshraghian-Haakansson and web developer Steve Berrick, THE CHAIN PROJECT, invites written responses to a video series hosted on Co3’s website. Inspired by Shakespeare’s The Seven Ages of Man and the mystical interpretation of Bahá’u’lláh’s The Seven Valleys.
The resulting visual expressions are at once timeless and contemporary, specific and yet a poem of universality. The responses of one person become the prompt of reflection for the next viewer – creating a digital chain connecting ideas, people and place.
