ENGAGEMENT PROGRAM
METRO SCHOOL RESIDENCY PROGRAM
Metro Education Program consists of in-school residency workshops aiming to create opportunities for student development through physical activity, creativity, and mindfulness. Residencies will be conducted with seven low economic metropolitan schools.
The residencies for CONNECT 2024: THE INSIDE are comprised of two main areas of activity:
OPTION 1:
Virtual Reality Experience and Dance Film: Delivery in-situ of a VR session, (includes 16 individual headsets).
Students experience Artistic Director Raewyn Hill’s work THE INSIDE through the headset and view a dance film of THE INSIDE, solo performance. Through this session, students are engaged in discussion around climate change, the power of mother nature, individual dreams for the future and what belonging, community, and connection mean to them.
OPTION 2:
Creative Movement Workshops: Driven by the themes of the project, the creative movement workshops promote physical activity and self-expression in a safe and inclusive environment.
Workshops are tailored to suit individual school's needs, a variety of ages and abilities (Year 4 through to Year 12) and abilities beyond exclusivity of dance student cohorts aiming to break down barriers of access to creative physical activity for non-dancers.
REGIONAL RESIDENCY PILOT PROGRAM
Regional Residency Pilot Program facilitates access to social and physical activity opportunities that promote team building, shared experiences, and a sense of belonging to and with each other and community.
Co3 has sought the expertise of local Yawuru artist Tara Gower from Rabibi (Broome) to design a program that will enrich the mental health and wellbeing of youth from surrounding remote communities, culminating in a public performance season in Boorloo (Perth) at State Theatre Centre of WA.
