A NEW WORK.
A VOYAGE OF DISCOVERY.

THE INSIDE is a reimagining of Raewyn Hill’s celebrated work THE ZONE from 2017. It recreates Japanese architect Satoshi Okada’s incredible set, merging live performance and digital technologies with legendary composer Eden Mulholland’s score.

THE INSIDE is an immersive Virtual Reality (VR) experience, where audiences will enter the mind of the maker, Raewyn Hill. Using technology, THE INSIDE cracks open the visual and research stimulus behind the choreography, an integral part of the creative process typically hidden in live performance.

WHAT DOES IT TAKE TO MAKE A NEW WORK?

STEP 1: THE BIRTH OF AN IDEA

Concept research and assembly of creative and technical teams (2019).

STEP 2: FIRST DEVELOPMENT

A residency at WA Museum Boola Bardip for two months with Justin McArdle and Gareth Lockett from Frame Labs (Aug/Sep 2021).

STEP 3: SECOND DEVELOPMENT

A residency at European Foods Warehouse in Northbridge for four weeks (Nov 2021).

Co3 created one of their most extraordinary works, ARCHIVES OF HUMANITY (2021), in the middle of a pandemic.
With your contribution, we can realise a new work, THE INSIDE, all done in Raewyn’s inimitable style.

YOUR DONATION NOW WILL ENABLE THE MOST CRITCAL AND FINAL STAGE OF DEVELOPMENT TO BE REALISED, CEMENTING OUR COURSE TO PRESENT 'THE INSIDE' IN 2023.

STEP 4: THIRD DEVELOPMENT

Build avatar section in the VR experience. Complete the set build. Add haptics and environment to the experience. Purchase headsets to increase audience reach and tour potential (2022).

STEP 5: REHEARSALS

Rehearse, rebuild, and rehearse (2022).

STEP 6: PRESENT AND TOUR

Ready to take THE INSIDE to our audiences, our region and interstate. Includes engaging with the community on a scale reflective of the level of support (2023).
