PRESENTED BY ACT BELONG COMMIT

An in-school dance residency and workshop program for young people (Year 5+) that incorporates digital technologies (Virtual Reality) and creative play in an immersive and imaginative arts experience. Led by professional Co3 teaching artists, participants will experience (wearing VR headsets) Artistic Director Raewyn Hill’s new Virtual Reality work THE INSIDE, and accompanying dance film, to inspire and provoke creative dance responses in a safe, open and inclusive environment - sure to challenge and delight curious young minds!

SUITABILITY

The program is aimed at upper primary (Year 5/6) and high school students (Year 7 – 12). It can be tailored suit to all levels and abilities.

 

AVAILABILITY

In 2022, engagements can be booked for Terms 2, 3 and 4, subject to availability.

 

VENUE REQUIREMENTS

Your school dance studio, gymnasium, undercover area – anywhere that has the space to move freely and safely.  Smart board (or similar) for participants to view the short dance film ‘THE INSIDE’.

ENGAGEMENT OPTIONS

Schools can opt for one of the following two engagement models:

OPTION 1: CREATIVE DANCE RESIDENCY

7 x hour-long sessions, includes:
  • An immersive Virtual Reality experience of the work ‘THE INSIDE’ (created by Raewyn Hill) wearing VR headsets (10mins)
  • Viewing and discussion of THE INSIDE short dance film
  • Creative dance workshop sessions to generate movement that explores ideas and themes from THE INSIDE, including the concept of humanity’s experience of, and response to, natural and man-made disasters
  • Collaborative structuring of movement ideas into a dance piece, culminating in optional presentation
PRICE: 7 x session Creative Dance Residency: $1260 + GST

OPTION 2: CREATIVE dance workshop

1 x hour-long session, includes: 

  • Creative dance task that explore ideas and themes from THE INSIDE, including the concept of humanity’s experience of, and response to, natural and man-made disasters 
  • Viewing and discussion of THE INSIDE short dance film 
PRICE: 1 x hour Creative Dance Workshop session: $180 + GST

COST

Prices as outlined above. For schools with an ICSEA score below 975, the program is offered at a FULLY-SUBSIDISED rate (subject to availability). Partial subsidies may also be offered upon enquiry for schools on the cusp.

Excludes 5% admin fee. Travel fees also apply for schools greater than 30km from King Street Arts Centre.

Connect 2022: THE INSIDE presented by Act Belong Commit promotes physical and mental wellness through physical activity, self-expression reflective  questions and collaborative discussions with peers.  It provides WA Curriculum links to Dance, Health/Physical Education, Design and Technology, and English (Speaking and Listening).
