Storm Helmore
Storm Helmore is a contemporary dancer, performer, maker and teacher based in Perth/Boorloo. Originally from Queensland and with a background in more commercial styles, she completed her contemporary dance training at WAAPA in 2011. Since then, Storm has worked extensively in the independent sector, collaborating and performing with numerous independent choreographers and companies in Perth and around Australia. For the past five years, Storm has also been an ensemble member with Co3, performing in Raewyn Hill’s Archives of Humanity in 2021, Gloria by Douglas Wright in 2022, and Architect of the Invisible by Raewyn Hill in 2023. For her role in the latter, Storm received the Outstanding Performer (Dance) award at the Performing Arts WA Awards. Storm’s choreographic work has been presented by Strut Dance, The Blue Room Theatre, WAAPA, Momentum Dance and Co3. She creates nuanced, precise and unexpected choreography using a mix of improvisation and detailed choreographic phrase-work, often exploring ideas around memory and connections to our past. Storm is also a passionate teacher with extensive experience across a variety of contexts – from professional level to open public classes, working with youth ensembles and delivering dance programs in schools, as well as at tertiary level and at full-time dance schools around Perth. She has worked as a teaching artist for Co3 since 2018.
