Georgia Van Gils
Georgia Van Gils is an Australian based movement artist who began her contemporary training at New Zealand School of Dance, graduating in 2017. Following graduation Georgia has worked with Leg’s on the Wall, The Farm, STRUT dance, Co3 Contemporary Dance, Stephanie Lake, Catapult Dance Company, Lewis Major, Fremantle Biennale and various other choreographers. Georgia has been a part of three Perth Festival productions. This year, Crystal Pite’s ’10 duets on a Theme of rescue’ restaged by Strut Dance, ‘Hofesh in the Yard’ a restaging of Hofesh Shecter’s ‘tHE bAD’ with Strut Dance in 2020. Also, in 2022 performing The Farm’s work ‘Ninth Wave’. Georgia’s 2021 performance highlights included Tanja Liedtke’s piece ‘Construct’, a development of Kristina Chan’s new work ‘Brightness’ and Kimberley Parkin’s ‘Cry Baby’. Recently, Georgia performed in STRUT Dance’s ‘Situ-8: City’ as a dancer in Sam Coren’s piece ‘SS BODACH’. She has been in the role of rehearsal director on numerous occasions for Sam Coren’s pieces. Georgia has an intense desire for collaboration and site-specific performances. Her self-practice focuses on combining audience experience through the lens of magical realism.
